However, due to its disproportionate impacts on women, the health, social and economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic threaten to reverse the gains that we have made in addressing this critical issue, both by increasing violence against women in the short term, and by amplifying or further entrenching the underlying gender inequalities that drive this violence in the first place.
